The Barnabas Church is a group of believers striving to do God’s will under the name of Barnabas Baptist Church. Barnabas is interpreted as “The Son of Consolation” (comfort). The comforting aid of the Holy Spirit empowers us to be an encourager to mankind. Love your neighbor as thyself. The Barnabas Church was organized in 1990 by Pastor W.G. Jones. In 1993 Pastor Jones became ill and the current Pastor G.D. Ware was called to the church. Since then, the Barnabas family has grown numerically and spiritually. Out of the Barnabas Family several events have been borne. To name a few, in 1996 an annual Community Picnic was established to pull the community together. This event supplies free food, entertainment, activities, medical screenings, vendors, prizes and games. An average of over 400 participants attend this annual event. Another birth is Barnabas Community Institute (BCI) which is a 501-C3 non-profit organization. This organization was established to address the many needs of the community. Such programs as community development, career counseling, referral resource center, case management and Christian athletics are provided to guide individuals through the complicated maze of becoming successful and independent.

Our mission is to reach as many who desire to learn about Jesus, and be able to live out the precepts and concepts of His word. We are concerned about the many who are living in negative situations, the abused and those who are being exploited. Through specific programs, we are targeting teenage pregnancy, youth mentoring, guidance for single parents and personal growth and development.

Our goal is to develop and build a stronger and more responsible society. Someone has to be concerned about the many that are slipping and falling into the cracks of life. Many today are not getting exposure to positive alternatives in life but rather falling into the path of crime and irresponsibility. Our desire is the establishment of an institution which will address and minister to every aspect of man. Our Lord Jesus Christ was and is concerned for all; therefore we are striving to be just like Him.

Through our efforts and with God’s help we hope to make a significant difference in the lives of many. We are beginning in our neighborhood and spreading to the up most parts of the world. This is our dream and prayer that others will join us in making a difference in the life of mankind.
